Well, A LOT has changed since I first started this blog. I lived out the rest of an internship, ended a relationship, took my first legit improv class, meet some awesome improv actors, moved back to school... and since getting back to Miami life has been CRAAAAZY. In the very best of ways possible of course. From drunken nights, to prank wars with the guys across the street, life has been a complete sit-com, and stories will be updated asap.
Yep, yep, bloggin again.

Bad weekends, late nights, and lots of busy work
Hello again!
Its been a crazy few weeks, and again I haven't been able to post as much as I would've liked. I'll start out whats been going on with my summer by explaining my recent Saturday from hell. Last Saturday I signed up for a free improv workshop put on by the Playground. I left a full hour early, and was really excited about the instructor and what I'd be learning. OF COURSE, I ran into massive traffic on Lake Shore Drive, and ended up getting to Wrigleyville a half hour late for the class. Then, naturally, there was a Cubs game, and there was absolutely no parking to be found anywhere. I've noticed (on more than this occasion) that people seem to take the occasion of a Cubs game to act like supreme douche bags, so that was amusing and fun to deal with as well. I'm really not into sports, so I didn't even think to check the schedule, but I have now totally learned my lesson and will check that on a regular basisSo I drove around for another half hour looking for parking, found none, and finally gave up and left Chicago for LOL in Schaumburg.
Finally, my segue into life at LOL. Well, lately I have been doing a lot of office work, BOX office work, and paper cutting. Yep, you read that right, paper cutting. Paper cutting at LOL is pretty much the equivilant of making copies for normal interns. We have to print a lot of cupons and and free tickets for special offers that LOL puts out in the community (gotta snag those return customers!). I also recently painted some wood to add to the sides of the balcony. I know, fascinating stuff. However, the more I work, the more I really enjoy the people and the atmosphere, and I think (fingers crossed!!) I'm making some really cool new friends and contacts in the process. If anything, this internship is helping me figure out just what I want to do when I graduate next year, and I'm starting to decide how and what I need to do to help make what I'm hoping for, a reality.
In conclusion, I'm working hard and enjoying every minute of it! I'll be sure to write more often and keep you, all 4 now, woohoo, informed.
Later!

Perfect Storm??
Hey 3 people who are following this!
I'm here at LOL actually writing my blog before the craziness starts. This is the first time I've ever been able to write in the theatre, so you are getting 100% up to date info. Exciting huh?
Soo tonight just might be the craziest night I have yet to endure here at LOL. Why you ask? Well, my boss is gone tonight, her SM and I are pretty much holding down the fort, AND the 9:30 show is already sold out. Hence, the perfect storm. On top of that, I've been assigned to edit a video for LOL's corporate event they did about a month ago, and the guy who used to do their video stuff was basically brilliant. He designed a special LOL dvd thing for last years videos and even made like 7 types of scene selection stuff and other crazy shit like that. Needless to say, my version blows so far. It's times like these I wish I had my own personal Lindsay Hubbard. Wow, thats like the second time I've mentioned her in my blog, lol. I hope I'm still remembered by her when shes off in LA doing really cool and successful things. I'm sure right now shes just glad to not have to deal with annoying 211 people. Anyway... I digress...
As I was saying, editing isn't going well, so I just hope I do alright at managing the 100+ people who will be here tonight. Wish me luck!! I'll need it...

Diving Right In!
Wow! So its been a few days, and boy have I been BUSY. Laugh Out Loud has certainly been keeping me on my toes! I been receiving word that my USS award is ready, so despite being seriously commute wary (I've pretty much been driving all over the greater Chicagoland area for the last 4 days...) I am motivated at 1am to tell about my experiences the past few days. So in the beginning of this week, I worked on replacing the old file holders, and printed out corporate donation letters for charities asking Laugh Out Loud for donations. My boss explained how they donate adult tickets to charities and how it not only puts butts in seats, but is a good way to help out the community. I really like that line of thinking, and enjoyed the office work. Then I got to help transfer some footage from a workshop LOL did with U.S Army Engineers onto the computer with Final Cut. Thanks to 211 (but in all honesty mostly Lindsay Hubbard) I know how to do that! Woohoo!
On to more interesting intern news in the life of Marie, this weekend was my first time ever working the shows!! Saturday was my first show day, and it was quite busy. First, there was a show for the Improv 101 class, which was well attended and very interesting to watch. During that show I started working box office for the first time. It was a little confusing, but by the end of the night I was kind of getting the hang of it. Working and watching the shows the rest of the night was so much fun, and all the performers seriously impressed me. Also, I found out 2 of them were married to each other, which is pretty damn adorable. I also worked a one woman show on Sunday, that was very, well... interesting. I thought it was funny, but also had a few "meh" moments about it, which were quite honestly more to do with my personal thoughts on the subject rather than the acting or performance. It was still a cool experience to see a one woman show, and the best part was seeing my Miami alum friend! Thanks to him and our other alum friend, we're getting some good advice on taking classes and such.
Ok, ok, so to summarize, week 1= great. More to come next week!

First Day! Hoorah!
Yep, thats right! I survived my first day at Laugh Out Loud. Not that I thought I would be thrown to the lions or anything but, it just feels good to have worked my first day. It was sooo much better than sitting at home all day looking at craigslist ad's, which is basically all I've been doing the past few weeks, and I don't know why but it just felt really good to be an official intern. Basically what I did was mostly training stuff, how to work the box office and take reservations and etc. But hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
After some basic training I cleaned out some storage space, loaded it in to a neater (is that a word?) storage space, and printed out "buy one get one free" cards. Ok so it's not glamorous, but I still love it! I was really disappointed I couldn't make it to their "Mousetraps and Water Torture" show tonight, because it sounded so different and I was looking forward to checking out some lesser seen improv (well lesser seen to me, I mean). Unfortunately I had some family circumstances that forced me to change my plans, but hopefully I get to see the last show before it closes.
Welp, thats all for me! The next time I work is Tuesday, so for all those interested, check back then!
Till next time!

Newbie Blogger Setting Sail
Greetings! Or shall I say, "Ahoy!"
Ok ok, all cheese aside, this is my very first ever blog!! I've popped my blog cherry, and you got to read it! Alright, perhaps that was too graphic, but in any event, this is my very first blog and I'm interested to see if people end up caring at all about what I have to say. Odds are there will probably be 1.5 readers, 1 being my boyfriend, because he seems to have had a mild interest in me for 21 months, so odds are that will probably continue.... and the .5 is Dr. K my advisor. I only count him as a half because, well, he has to read it. He's my captive audience, and who knows if he'll want to walk the plank after this first blog**. I know, I know what you're thinking, "Get off the pirate lingo Maloney! Everyone knows pirates are soooo 2 years ago". Well I'm sorry, but I just can't get into the whole new vampire craze that's been going around, plus Andy Samberg (dreamy sigh) has made boats cool again, so the boat metaphor is what I'm gonna be sticking to!
I'll save you any more of my lame pirate/boat speak, and get onto my reasons for blogging. While back at school, I was awarded the Undergraduate Summer Scholars (USS) scholariship to have an internship in what I'm hoping to eventually break into, comedy. I've accepted an internship an improv theatre called Laugh Out Loud in Schaumburg, IL (outside Chiacgo), and I am so excited to start working there in a few days! Eureka! My blog title is becoming clear...I hope...
Long story short, I'm blogging to chronicle my many upcoming adventures (and probably a few misadventures) on the "high seas" of interning! Yep, the lingo is back and I'm sure you just rolled eyes, but anyway, I'll be blogging on a weekly basis and also may mention a few other things in my life including the comedy group BALONEY! of which I am a member. I'm excited to share my experiences and hope you enjoy!
Achors awayyy!
** Totally kidding Dr. K!
